My buddy Phyllis graciously volunteered to perform a post mortem on my sock. No, that is not my sock there, that's her sock. They were done on respectable #2 needles. The stitches were nice and tight too. What a metaphor for everything that is wrong with me...
After one look at my sock she proclaims, "er, perhaps you need to go down to a zero."
"As in no number?" Says I incredulously. I'm thinking, doesn't a zero mean that the needles are invisible?? Actually, I know better because I used to crochet lace when I was a teenager, you know when my eyes were good and my stitches tight...
Phyllis kindly suggested that my gauge was off which is why I have a sock for Big Foot.
Ok, ok yall, I know you want to see it for yourselves -
Phyllis also suggested that I might have discovered another use for it -
But I was way ahead of her, this is what I did with the other sock, the one I screwed up first -
Deborah - your comment reminded me that it has been too long since I checked your blog. I LUV the shawls you're wearing in your profile photo and at the LYS. I'm starting a new job in Mahwah, NJ tomorrow, which made me think of you. I'll be traveling up there from FL occassionally, hope we can knit together sometime!
ReplyDeleteROTFLMAO (for those of you new to blog lingo that means: rolling on the floor laughing my ass off).
ReplyDeleteDeborah, Deborah, Deborah! that is too funy. I was at work on my luch hour when i read your post and nearly fell out my chair when i saw the pic of the big foot sock. Please note I am NOT laughing at you, I am laughting WITH you! And I only laugh because I am making a sock and it looks like a bunch of mouths have eating through the heal. Can we say don't knit and sleep at the same time. I skipped sooooo many stitches. If it wasn't for shame, I'd try to pass it off as the look I was going for.
Hugs, Tonya
P.S. I really like reading your blog it's one of my favorites.
Oooooo, what a great idea for that sock! You turned a lemon into lemonade there!
ReplyDeleteA handknit stocking is nice! LOL
ReplyDeleteI like the wrister, too. Yep, like del said; lemonade.
The sock looked pretty normal until you hung it up!! LOL Yep, its a bit big. But I love your new use for it AND the new mitt you made with the other one!!
ReplyDeleteWe all agree, lemonade!
So when you starting your next sock, on size ZERO! LOL
Girl-you are too funny! But now you know how to knit a Christmas stocking. All depends on how you look at it.Keep trying you Will get it right.Or have lots of hand knit stockings!
ReplyDeleteAh, creative finishing - I love it!!! If my sock had even the slightest resemblence to any holiday colors, you can be sure that one would have been on the mantle and the other ball mysteriously missing...
ReplyDeleteI can't stop laughing!
ReplyDeletekeep in mind i have yet to finish a sock. so i shouldn't laugh too much.
But I can't stop!
The wristwarmers are great! I have to say that I am not a fan of socks on size 0s...although they say they wear better that way. I like to use sport weight on size 2s...they go so much faster. Good luck on your sock adventure!
ReplyDeleteA very creative solution to your sock dilemma.... a very lovely Christmas decoration...I love it! Looks really pretty with the wreath by the way :)
ReplyDeleteYou're making me laugh at work! I never photographed my first pair of socks...yours look way better than my first pair!
ReplyDeleteYikes, when you come back to Mouseville, knitting lessons will be available. I make hotel calls.
