You are #15399 on the list.
3238 people are ahead of you in line.
16923 people are behind you in line.
37% of the list has been invited so far
I'm seriously trying to figure out what all this Ravelry fuss is about. Is it another blog that I have to remember to update? Is it another knit-a-long that I'll have to remember to update? Is it another list that I'll have to remember to update AND read?

Ok, ok, I trust all of you guys who say it is better than alladat. So I guess I'll be waiting for my invite...

I have only 405 people ahead of me so when(if)I ever get there I will let you know how it works. And if it is worth the wait.

I think that you will love it. However, its work, if you want it to work for you. The site is based on what members enter in to their notebooks in the form of yarns, patterns, and projects. This all complete with photos. Since you're a blogger, the photo part should be easy.
As for me, I finally have oversight and a cohesive way to manage my yarns and future projects.

Okay, it's 2:30 am and I started updating stuff around 10pm, so it's good. It's a huge resource more than anything. You can track your stash, your books, your needles but I think it's coolest feature is just being a resource to see what people are doing with yarns and what yarns they are using for projects.

I am neurotic so what I would recommend is getting a list together organized of your books, yarns (colors, how many you have and the rest of the info is there), and your needles. Set up a free account on flickr and start uploading photos, let me tell you it is seriously fun.

Deborah: Thanks for the tip about the O'Jay's sample! That is the real reason ( besides, Brett) that I like the song...My claim to fame is aside from used to having been drinking buddies, he once laid on my bed! EEEEH!!!!lol!

Hopefully you'll like it, Deborah. At first, it IS work because you have to input info, photos, etc. Just do it at your own pace.

To me, what I like best about it is seeing the same pattern knitted up by so many different people. You can see how one project looks in different yarns, different colors, etc. It's all in one place instead of having to search all of blogland.

Plus, you can keep a visual list of future projects you want to knit.

I enjoy Ravelry... You can use it as much or as little as you want for whatever purposes you want! I love to be able to look up a pattern or a yarn and see what other people have made with it. There are forums about everything with people willing and able to answer all of your questions. It's a great place also to keep track of your own projects and stash. TIP: Open a flickr account and starting photographing all of your projects; WIP's, stash etc.. Then you'll be ready to go when the invite comes!!

Enjoy the Ravelry...I have enough on my plate just posting once a week on blogger. Whew. Uploading photos on Flickr, managing to comment whenever I can on blogs and Flickr photos takes up so much time! Yep, I think it's going to suck out more time like all other obsessions and KALs.

I'm finding it to be useful in some aspects. Like I can look up a finished product and see how it actually looks when knit for a real person instead of the 6' 98lb model in the magazine. It's also handy to seek out projects. You can type in a search for women's sweaters and get a ton of finished sweaters to look at. From there you can see what you like and track down the pattern.

I'm just adding my finished projects and not bothering with my stash or books.
